Knoxville, Tenn. -- Do you wear black or black-brown mascara? EDCT-Knoxville volunteer Renee Taylor-Sapp wants to know. It's all part of "Mascara with a Mission," an initiative she launched to benefit Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT). Renee will donate the proceeds of every mascara purchased through her Mary Kay Beauty Consultant website from April 30-May 4, 2012.
We are thrilled to report that this year’s “An Evening of Song & Story,” has already raised more than $83,000 in pledges and donations. Thanks to the generous support of our underwriters and donors, we have exceeded our $75,000 goal. The event drew more than 200 attendees and was held at Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville on Thursday, April 12.
Our dear friend and former Board member, Jill Baker, passed away on March 17 after a brave battle with cancer. It’s difficult to find the words to describe Jill’s far-reaching impact on our tightly knit organization. She first joined EDCT as a clinical member in 2004 and became actively involved as a volunteer. Jill’s heart for our mission stemmed from her strong commitment to her clients and to the field of eating disorder treatment. She leaves a lasting mark on our lives, both personally and professionally. We miss her greatly. Read Jill's obituary.
The Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee-Northeast is sponsoring a YES! Team program (Youth Education and Support) in local schools now through March 3 to coincide with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.
The YES! program was developed by the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT) to help educate youth about eating disorders, develop a healthy body image, build friendships and support each other. The program is made possible due to a grant from HEAL Appalachia.
With parties to attend and resolutions to make, it's easy to focus on the new year today.
