Fashion for EveryBODY Raises $30,000

(Nashville, Tenn. – Sept. 28, 2009) – It had all the makings of a fashion show – bright lights, thumping music, hot looks, cheering crowds – except no one walked the runway.

They sashayed, twirled and shimmied instead.

The sixth-annual Fashion for EveryBODY®, held Sept. 26 at Vanderbilt’s Commodore Ballroom, featured 42 real-sized “ROLE Models” nominated from within the community. Each of the models took their turn on the four-foot-high runway to music spun by DJ Ego. Nineteen Middle Tennessee boutiques, including Apricot Lane, Gent, Ivey on Main, Manuel and UAL, dressed the male and female models in fall styles ranging from petite to plus-size.

The high-energy, New York-style fashion show raised more than $30,000 for Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT), a statewide nonprofit dedicated to eating disorder awareness, education and prevention.

“Fashion for EveryBODY delivers the powerful message that fashion is not about size,” says EDCT Executive Director Liz Llewellyn. “It’s about confidence.”

Country-music recording artists Emily West (Capitol Records) and Dean Brody (Broken Bow Records) hosted the event, which also included a silent auction. Auction items included handwritten lyric sheets signed by Keith Urban, a private cooking party hosted by chef Arnold Myint (PM, Cha Chah, House of Yum) and a football signed by Vince Young.

Fashion for EveryBODY 2009 sponsors included Massmark, Deanna Bruton with Strategic Hospitality, Music City Tents and Event, Ivey on Main, The Commodore Ballroom, The Big 98, WSIX, The Margaret Cuninggim Women's Center, Nashville Lifestyles, Fruition Salon and Therapy Systems.

Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee is a resource for individuals, families and communities on eating disorders, with the hope that education will prevent the development of eating disorders and provide those who are impacted by disordered eating with support, information and assistance in finding effective treatment.
