Stories of Hope

EDCT fulfills its mission one individual at a time.
Although names have been changed to protect privacy, here are just a few real-world examples of how we reached the community in 2010.
Carey browsed our website when she sought treatment providers and prevention resources.
Tricia and Bill joined our Families Supporting Families support group to help them cope with their daughter’s eating disorder.
Jake and his middle school classmates learned about healthy body image and eating disorders prevention through our YES! Team youth program.
At a civic meeting featuring a member of the EDCT Speaker’s Bureau, Phyllis learned strategies for raising a healthy family.
Maria checked out books from the EDCT Junior League Resource Library, which gave her free, current information about her sister’s eating disorder.
Virginia attended the Annual Forum for Professionals to learn the warning signs of eating disorders -- and how to treat them effectively.
In addition, EDCT worked with state legislators to support a Bill of Rights for Patients and Families. We also helped strengthen the presence of EDCT in Memphis, the Tri-Cities, Knoxville and Chattanooga, providing hope, help and support for even more Tennesseans.
