The power of volunteerism.

With just one full-time and two part-time staff members, our organization runs on volunteers. These are just a few of the contributors who make it possible for us to fulfill our mission.

Sara Wilburn is from Ocean Springs on the gulf coast of Mississippi. She received her bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Mississippi in 2011 and is currently a second-year graduate student studying Food and Nutrition Services at the University of Mississippi. After graduating in May 2013, she will pursue her dream in becoming a registered dietitian. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and Behavioral Health Nutrition dietetic practice group.

Sara’s ultimate goal is to specialize in eating disorders, due to a personal experience of struggling with anorexia nervosa during the onset of my adolescent years. With the help of professionals, I’ve been able to grow through my eating disorder. Recovery has driven my passion to help the lives of others who may be struggling by helping them develop a healthy, positive relationship with food.

“I am happy to be a part of such an invaluable organization such as EDCT by providing eating disorder awareness to communities and making a difference in the lives of others,” she says.
